China Golden Week Incoming From Next Week
China National Day is fast approaching, which is officially the National Day of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
The celebration is held annually on October 1st to commemorate the founding of the PRC in 1949, which begins Golden Week.
The Chinese enjoy a 7-day holiday during Golden Week, with celebratory fireworks, parades and festivities being held around the country, especially in the capital Beijing.
Traditionally, before and after Golden Week is the peak time for Chinese people to travel, as masses of the population make the journey to get together with family.
Many factories and government institutions are closed for either part or all of golden week, and export production comes to a standstill.
The holiday period often results in a 2/3 week lag for international logistics and carriers have blanked around 10-15% of sailings between now and then end of October. Therefore, schedules will vary.
Many of our partners will be honouring the holiday period and their offices will be closed with emergency contact options.
