China National Day & Golden Week
China National Day is fast approaching, which is officially the National Day of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
The celebration is held annually on October 1st to commemorate the founding of the PRC in 1949, which begins Golden Week.
The Chinese enjoy a 7-day holiday during Golden Week, with celebratory fireworks and activities being held around the country, especially in the capital Beijing.
This year should see a return towards normal, following the gradual lifting of travel restrictions imposed during China’s prolonged fight against Covid.
Traditionally, before and after Golden Week is the peak time for Chinese people to travel, as masses of the population make the journey to get together with family.
Many factories and government institutions are closed for either part or all of golden week, and export production comes to a standstill. To accommodate this, carriers dramatically reduce schedules and very little moves during the period.
Many of our partners will be honouring the holiday period and their offices will be closed with emergency contact options during the below dates.
