Christine Raises Breast Cancer Awareness At London Gateway
Atlantic Pacific Group Director, Christine Nichols, visited DP World at London Gateway Port this week, as part of her ongoing commitment to raise awareness of breast cancer.
As a trustee, and the Chair Elect, for Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust, she made the visit along with Lady McAdden nurse Clarissa Mendes, and gave a presentation on the early detection of breast cancer to around 50 of the company’s employees.
The Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust is the only breast cancer charity in the UK to currently offer one to one support with a nurse for breast awareness appointments, both remotely and face to face. Its mission is to support the early detection of breast cancer through education, advice and awareness.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the most important time of year for the charity and a time when Christine steps up her efforts to raise awareness of this devastating disease and its effects.
One in seven women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime and every year, about 55,000 women are diagnosed with the disease in the UK. The cancer is more common in women who are aged 50 and over, but can affect men too.
