Civil Service Strike To Affect Customs
The British International Freight Association (BIFA) have advised that next week’s civil service strike is likely to impact customs at UK airports, seaports and ro-ro ports.
Up to 100,000 civil service members are planning to strike on Wednesday 1 February and although HMRC staff are not expected to take part, the industrial action will include Home Office employees, which includes Border Force.
The industrial action is expected to impact the movement of goods through UK ports and airports, as well as UK Border controls in Calais, Dunkirk and Coquelles. The potential disruption may extend into the morning of 2 February as things returns to normal.
Of course, the strike is likely to impact travel in and out of the UK’s airports and passenger terminals.
Atlantic Pacific will be watching the situation closely, for further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
