Covid – Shanghai Air Cancellations

Two covid cases, amongst ground handling staff at Shanghai’s Pudong Airport, have led to one of the two terminals being effectively closed down today.

Numerous flights have been cancelled and many airlines are not taking new bookings until further notice. While the other terminal is operational, productivity is severely hampered by the pandemic.

The airport had already been struggling to fulfil airfreight uplifts for a while, due to staff shortages and strict regulations brought about by increasing cases of the Delta variant.  In many cases flights were previously departing without the full allocation of bookings assigned to them.

We await further news regarding the longevity of this current issue, but this will clearly add to the increasing challenges and could impact space and costs once more.

If you are concerned about current consignments due to depart, then please do not hesitate to contact a member of our team.

As ever, Atlantic Pacific continue to work diligently to mitigate supply chain disruption during these extremely difficult times. Should you require further information on the above, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
