Deadline For CDS Exports Delayed Until March
HM Customs have announced that the deadline for export declarations having to be made on the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) has been delayed until March 30th 2024.
CDS is HMRC’s new electronic system for handling the declaration process and replaces the outgoing CHIEF system. Import processes were transferred from CHIEF to CDS last September, with exports scheduled for March this year.
However, the export changeover was then moved until this November and a further delay until March next year has been confirmed this week.
That said, some high volume declarants will be phased onto the system from November and these exporters are being contacted directly.
According to HMRC, they have listened to feedback and decided that implementing a phased approach for businesses is the best way forward.
