Durban Floods Halt Logistics

Devastating floods in Durban have put a halt to logistics in the region and led to the loss of over 300 lives.

A months worth of rain fell in less than 24 hours earlier this week, wreaking havoc in the city and surrounding areas.

Parts of the essential N3 highway, which connects Durban to economic heartlands, are still blocked and there is still no vehicular access to Durban’s container terminals, with shipping suspended.

The brutal storm, reportedly the worst in more than 60 years, led to mud slides and floods that have dealt considerable damage to local infrastructure.

Delays can be expected for arrivals and departures as the authorities deal with the aftermath of the storm.
