Fantastic Auction Completes Herd In The City
And so it’s done for another two years…
A fantastic auction concluded this summer’s Herd In The City, which featured Atlantic Pacific Group as logistics partners and sponsors, raising some significant funds for the very deserving Havens Hospices.
The charity auctioning of the statues from the wonderful public art display that adorned the streets of Southend raised £180,000 on Tuesday night.
This means the the grand total for this year’s community led event has passed £580,000, beating the £508,480 raised by Hares About Town in 2021, despite the current cost of living crisis.
Our elephant ‘Where is Ellie’, created by excellent local artist Esme Taylor, is being delivered to the Selfie On Sea store at the Royals Shopping Centre, Southend, to help raise funds for Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Research.
Here’s a quick stat attack for the elephant statue trail and accompanying app:
- 315,690 sculptures were captured on the app in total.
- On average, each visitor captured 68 of the 118 statues.
- 61,853 rewards were collected via the app.
- 32,717 miles were walked on the trail using the app.
- Visitors walked an average of 9 miles each.
Alas, every great story has to come to an end. The Atlantic Pacific team have very much enjoyed being part of this charitable project and are proud to have been sponsors. We hope to be involved in the next one in two years time.
