French Strike Likely To Disrupt Logistics

Much of France will be striking this Thursday, 19th January, in protest against President Macron’s pension reform that would see the retirement age rise from 62 to 64.

For the first time in many years, unions have united to effectively create a national strike, calling for all workers to walk out of their job and take to the streets.

According to polls, the French people are overwhelmingly against the reform and many are expected to join in the protests, but the government is standing firm.

It is widely believed that protesters will try to disrupt strategic targets, such as cities, transport routes, ports and airports. Numerous flights and scheduled train services have been cancelled ahead of the industrial action.

Naturally, we expect there to be some impact for logistics services moving to, from, or even through France towards the end of this week.

It is not yet known how effective the protests will be, therefore we will be monitoring the situation closely. Should customers have concerns about any consignments moving this week, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
