Golden Week And More Blank Sailings

Golden Week And More Blank Sailings

With supply chain disruption at record highs from Asia, it may be easy to forget that China’s Golden Week is almost upon us, starting with China National Day this Friday, 1st October.

This is the start of a seven day public holiday in China & Hong Kong, that runs until Thursday 7th October, although adjoining weekends are mandatory work days.

As has become traditional during this period, carriers have confirmed there will be blank sailings, which means that some scheduled weekly voyages have been cancelled during the holiday period, which impacts other Asian countries.

With backlogs continuing throughout Asia, blank sailings only serve to heighten the shortages of space and equipment during these challenging times.

Bearing the above in mind, the outlook for the last quarter of 2021 appears to be a continuation of the challenging conditions we have witnessed over the past eighteen months, especially with Christmas on the horizon.

As ever, Atlantic Pacific continue to work diligently to mitigate supply chain disruption during these extremely difficult times. Should you require further information on the above, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
