Liverpool Port Dispute Appears Resolved

Liverpool Port Strikes Appear Resolved

The latest planned strike at the Port of Liverpool has been cancelled as the union and management have now come to an agreement over pay.

Around 600 workers were due to commence their latest walk out today (14th November), which would have been the fourth since September.

However, Peel Ports increased their pay offer to between 14 and 18% last week, which has now been accepted by the Unite union and its members.

Liverpool is one of the largest container ports in the UK, and during recent weeks a bitter war of words had broken out as the dispute turned sour and supply chains suffered. It now looks very much like this disruption is behind us.

The Unite union also orchestrated two strikes at the Port of Felixstowe in recent weeks, and while that dispute appeared to remain unresolved, a pay increase was automatically applied and there has been no news of further action.
