Lockdowns Continue Throughout China
Lockdowns are continuing to impact many cities throughout China, which has resulted in further concern about manufacturing output from the world’s second largest economy.
Chengdu, China’s sixth-largest city with a population of 21.5 million, entered a full lockdown last week. This action is the largest seen in the country since Shanghai finished its two-month lockdown in June.
Other key economic centres, including the port cities of Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dalian and Tianjin have enforced various levels of restrictions recently too.
Most of the 18 million people in Shenzhen are subject to some form of Covid controls, while citizens of Dalian have been instructed to return to to their homes last week.
Inevitably China’s fight against the coronavirus is continuing to hamper their export productivity.
