New Energy Fee For Felixstowe Port

The Port of Felixstowe has announced a new levy to recover recent rises in energy, which will be effective for import containers from 1st May 2022.

In a recent communication, the port advised that it has seen an increase of 100% in its overall year on year energy costs, accounting for its use of wholesale gas, electricity and diesel.

The EAL (Energy Adjustment Levy) will be £11.25 per import container.

The charge will be applicable to all import containers through the port and will be invoiced to the customs clearance party, such as Atlantic Pacific, for passing on to the importer.

There will be no EAL charge for export movements as calculating the cost is too complex with so many containers leaving the UK empty.

Regretfully, Atlantic Pacific will have to pass this charge on to importers on all Felixstowe arrivals that out-gate after midnight on April 30th.

Should you require further information on the above, then please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Atlantic Pacific team.
