New Scheme Incoming For Northern Ireland

New Scheme Incoming For Northern Ireland

A new scheme, in conjunction with the Windsor Framework, is currently being introduced that replaces the existing UK Trader Scheme (UKTS) from 30th September.

The new UK Internal Market Scheme (UKIMS) has a different criteria to UKTS and will enable more businesses to qualify. It will eventually enable shipments to travel through a green lane when entering Northern Ireland.

HMRC are asking traders to complete their UKIMS application before July 31st 2023 to ensure they can complete approval before the new scheme commences.

For now, UKTS holders can continue using the scheme, but it will no longer be valid after 30th September and users will NOT be automatically transferred to UKIMS. Therefore, you should apply sooner rather than later.

The green lane is expected to come into effect from September 30th 2024. For further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

You can find out more and start your registration on the government UKIMS website page HERE.
