Rates From Asia Under Pressure

Ocean Rates On The Rise From Asia

Ocean freight rates from Asia could be set to increase incrementally during the next few weeks.

Carriers have been managing capacity during recent times, in response to the lower levels of demand from the region. Their blanked sailing programmes have led to space issues and the opportunity for them to uplift the current rock bottom levels.

Rates from Asia to Europe and from Asia to North America look to be set for incremental increases from now, which could continue through the upcoming peak season.

We understand that BAF levels may also be on the rise after a spike in Brent Crude Oil, which followed a coalition of oil-producing countries deciding to cut output at the weekend.

Naturally, Atlantic Pacific are monitoring the situation very closely, and will be advising customers of any increases as they materialise.
