Revised BIFA Trading Conditions Reflect Global Market Challenges
Evolving changes in UK trading procedures and rising turbulence in global markets have prompted the British International Freight Association (BIFA) to publish a new edition of its Standard Trading Conditions.
This updated framework, which will next year replace the last revision in 2021, reflects the increased complexity of international movements faced by BIFA members.
The vast majority of freight forwarders in the UK, including Atlantic Pacific Global Logistics, operate under BIFA’s trading conditions. As such, the latest revisions will play a central role in shaping contractual practices across the industry.
BIFA director general Steve Parker highlighted the importance of the update, noting: “Over time, in the same ways laws must change, so do contractual rights and obligations that flow from these changes. Therefore, it is essential to review any set of industry terms against changes in legislation and industry practice.”
He added that what began as a routine review became a far-reaching project, leading to a significant revision and expansion of the conditions. The outcome is a comprehensive update designed to provide greater clarity, security, and alignment with current trading realities.
The new BIFA trading conditions will also become our new trading conditions. They are available to view on the BIFA website HERE but will not take effect until after 31st December 2025.
