Shanghai – Covid & Blank Sailings

Since the start of this week there has been a slight easing of the Covid restrictions in the city of Shanghai, which has been in lockdown for almost the past two weeks.

Despite Covid cases continuing to rise, pressure from the public seems to have influenced Chinese authorities to consider relaxing the rules in certain areas.

There is no obvious change in transport regulations, which have been severely disrupted recently. Should the current situation be signs that Shanghai is starting to reopen, then we still expect there to be a squeeze on capacity when it does, as backlogged orders are rushed through.

Capacity is also likely to be impacted further by blanked sailings that have been introduced by carriers recently. Coronavirus issues and a dip in demand since Chinese New Year have brought about the decision to cut some vessel trips.

Atlantic Pacific continue to monitor the situation closely. Should you require further information, then please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team.
