Space Issues Return To Asian Market

Despite demand continuing to be low for imports from Asia, we are currently witnessing a return to space issues and booking rollovers.

Capacity is being stretched again, following the continuous blanking of sailings by the carrier alliances to mitigate low volumes.

A report this week in The Loadstar, suggests that the 2M Alliance had 42 vessels laid up, with Maersk Line responsible for 29 of them.

Demand has been low since the middle of 2022, and the usual increase after Chinese New Year hasn’t been significant this year. This resulted in steamship lines dropping voyages to stop rates falling further.

Atlantic Pacific are monitoring the situation and working hard to manage the space issues accordingly. We recommend checking with us before arranging any urgent orders at the moment.
