Transport & This Week’s Rail Strike

With no breakthrough in talks expected, rail workers are set to strike again this Wednesday 27th July and up to 40,000 network staff are expected to down tools.

While only 10-12% of UK transport moves by rail, the lack of train movement will undoubtedly mean additional strains for the UK logistics sector, which will also include the day before and after.

Container transport, in particular, will be impacted and this action may also add further disruption to ports already fighting congestion issues.

Additional traffic on the roads, due to the lack of services running and the holiday period, is likely to lead to some delays on the strike day itself.

The Atlantic Pacific team will be monitoring the situation as it develops. If you are concerned about collections or deliveries around this time, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
