UK Call Omitted For APL Vanda

The incident involving the APL Vanda last month has been exasperated further, as the vessel’s schedule has been revised and it will NOT be calling at Southampton.

The vessel was idling off the coast of Djibouti for over a week, when 55 containers were lost overboard, and a further 36 damaged, during a storm on 3rd July.

The vessel subsequently called at the Port of Djibouti to have the damaged containers removed and is now due to arrive at the Port of Tangier on 6th August.

With the vessel now omitting the call at Southampton, UK containers will be discharged in Tangier and will be loaded to the vessel ‘CMA CGM Georg Forster’ which is not due to arrive in the UK until 23rd August.

The APL Vanda was originally due to arrive in Southampton on 17th July, therefore UK cargo will be arriving around 37 days late.
