UK Suspends Import Duty On 89 Everyday Products
The UK government has announced a suspension of duty rates for 89 products, which is aimed at boosting economic growth .
The tariff suspension targets what the government describes as everyday summer essentials, and commenced this week – 27th April 2025.
For the duration of the next two years, these tariff amendments are expected to save traders around £17 million per year on specific commodity codes that come under the below :
- pasta
- fruit juice
- coconut oil
- pine nuts
- spices
- plywood
- plastics
- gardening products.
The rates will remain suspended until July 2027.
According to a UK government statement “The UK has already reduced tariffs on certain imported goods, benefitting British consumers with better choice, quality and prices on products like fruit juices from Peru and vacuum cleaners from Malaysia.
The Government is going further and faster in negotiating trade deals with partners including India, the Gulf Cooperation Council, South Korea and Switzerland which will unlock new opportunities for businesses, support jobs, and boost wages”.
