UK’s New Safety & Security Measures For EU Go Live
From tomorrow, January 31st, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) are implementing new import Safety & Security measures for goods coming in from the EU.
These measures will be covered by an Entry Summary Declaration (ENS), which is already a requirement for imports from the rest of the world and for exports to the EU. The information within these measures is to be used to help protect Great Britain and its citizens from illicit goods such as drugs and weapons.
The ENS declaration includes basic information about each shipment, such as shipper, consignee, packages, goods description, weight, transport mode and place of loading/unloading. The requirements is for this to be lodged around 2 hours before arrival on road freight and before take-off on air freight.
The responsibility for completing ENS declarations lies with the carrier, or their appointed broker. Therefore, Atlantic Pacific will take responsibility for arranging this when we are appointed to carry the goods for you. In which case, there is no need for importers to do anything at this stage, provided you believe the information we hold for your consignments is accurate.
Should you require further information regarding the above, there is more information on the government’s website here, or please do not hesitate to contact us.
